The American alternative rock favourites,Weezer, will visit Newcastle, Manchester, Leeds, Glasgow, Birmingham, London and Cardiff during May, with Taking Back Sunday joining them across the UK run.

The tour follows Weezer's 2024 UK dates with The Smashing Pumpkins, but this time Rivers Cuomo and the band will be heading up their own arena-sized run.

Taking Back Sunday will support Weezer at all seven UK performances.

The London date stands out from the arena run, with Weezer returning to the huge indoor space at Alexandra Palace on 22 May.

The Gathering Tour supports Weezer's new album

The 2027 dates form part of a much wider international tour covering North America, Europe and Japan.

The tour also arrives alongside another major milestone for the band: their 20th studio album.

The latest self-titled Weezer record — inevitably gaining a colour-based nickname and becoming known as the Gold Album — is due for release on 21 August 2026.

Three tracks had been previewed ahead of release: Shine Again, We Might as Well Be Strangers and C.E.O.

That means the 2027 UK concerts should give fans a mixture of brand-new material and a back catalogue stretching across more than three decades.

Weezer return to Britain

Few American alternative rock bands have maintained quite the same relationship with UK audiences as Weezer.

From Buddy Holly and Say It Ain't So through to Island in the Sun, Hash Pipe and Beverly Hills, the band have built a catalogue capable of crossing alternative, rock and mainstream festival audiences.

Their continued presence on major UK stages also makes the new dates relevant beyond the tour itself.

With the 2027 UK festival calendar only beginning to take shape, Weezer's return to Britain will inevitably put the band on the radar of fans watching for next year's festival announcements.

For now, however, no UK festival appearance should be assumed unless officially announced.

Tickets for the UK leg went on general sale on Friday 14 August, following several presales earlier in the week.

The addition of Taking Back Sunday should make the dates particularly attractive for fans of 2000s alternative rock, emo and pop-punk, while Weezer's new album gives The Gathering Tour a clear new chapter rather than simply another greatest-hits run.

With seven dates stretching from Newcastle to Cardiff, UK fans will have plenty of opportunities to catch them next May.
