Art of Reggae
The Art of Reggae Exhibition is a successful collaboration between Positive Vibration and the International Reggae Poster Contest (IRPC). The exhibition showcases 100 reggae-inspired posters, designed by illustrators & artists from all over the world.
The 100 posters are shortlisted from over 1000 submissions. Last year, we received 1,300 submissions from illustrators & artists in 65 different countries.
The exhibition supports the work of the Alpha Boys School in Kingston, Jamaica: http://alphaboysschool.org
A very important aspect of the festival is our panel discussion, at which, we discuss the impact of reggae on British music, culture & society.
The panel is led by a mix of musicians, performers and industry experts. Previous speakers have included Pauline Black (The Selecter), Carroll Thompson, Blacker Dread, Mykaell Riley (Steel Pulse), Dennis Bovell and John Robb.
Each year, we host a number of creative, educational and performance workshops, including dub poetry with Levi Tafari, Jamaican dance classes with Merseyside Dance Initiative, arts & crafts with Square Pegs, Capoeira & drum classes with Capoeira For All, theatre and performance with Staged Kaos.
