About Mutations
Brighton’s grassroots venues do the heavy lifting here. Mutations 2027 runs in Brighton on 22-23 October 2027, with an 18+ music bill spread through the city centre. The festival began in 2015 as a multi-venue event born out of Drill:Brighton.
The format is built around one wristband for all participating venues on the chosen day or weekend. Its 2024 edition was reported as a 1,500-capacity festival, while later editions used 10 venues and more than 100 acts.
Lineup and Programme
The bill leans into alternative, indie, post-punk, electronic, folk and experimental music. Chalk is the main stage. Sets run across Chalk, Patterns, Revenge, The Hope and Ruin, Dust, Green Door Store, The Prince Albert, Alphabet, The Folklore Rooms and Daltons.
Movement between venues is part of the programme. Official after-parties run at selected venues, including Chalk, The Hope and Ruin and Daltons.
Who Is It For?
Mutations is an 18+ festival, with Challenge 25 ID checks in place. The crowd is built around adults who follow new and alternative music, with reports describing a mix of older headliners’ fans and younger attendees.
There is no campsite and no separate venue ticketing once the wristband is collected. Day or weekend tickets cover the venues and shows on the chosen day or weekend.
The Venue and Site
The site is the city rather than a field. Mutations uses 10 central Brighton grassroots venues, with wristband exchange at the East Street entrance to Chalk.
Accessible toilets are available at Chalk, Green Door Store and Daltons. There are no designated blue-badge spaces for the event, though city-centre blue-badge parking can be used.
