Headstock Festival was set up in 2010 by Newstead Enterprise. The non-profit, volunteer and musician led Headstock takes place at the Newstead and Annesley Country Park, near Nottingham. Headstock is part of a bigger endeavour to create a sustainable future for the village, which suffered severe deprivation after the coal mine closed in 1987. The Festival is situated in the community’s own stunning 230-acre eco-park, with the main stage sitting in a natural amphitheatre and camping available on site. Other attractions at the festival include street theatre, circus performances, DJ workshops and light installations. There’s a dedicated children’s area called Kidstock, and the Lambhorse Cabaret will be wandering around the site entertaining the crowds.
Due to the closure of the Robin Hood line from Saturday 10th September until Monday 12th September, all Headstock Festival goers will now be offered free camping. Replacement buses will be running instead of trains.
The Lightning Seeds will close the Main Stage on the Sunday of 2011’s Headstock Festival, while The Herbaliser Band also join the bill in a UK exclusive.
