About BBC Radio 6 Music Festival
BBC Radio 6 Music Festival started in 2014 at Victoria Warehouse in Manchester. For 2027, it is in Newcastle upon Tyne, Tyne and Wear, as a five-day city-based music festival from Monday 15 March to Friday 19 March. Daily capacity is 4,800.
The first edition put more than 30 artists and DJs across three stages, with Tyneside taking the second edition in February 2015. The Newcastle edition uses independent and grassroots venues, with live performances, DJ sets and a night run in collaboration with BBC Introducing. Highlights are broadcast on BBC Radio 6 Music, BBC Sounds and BBC Music’s YouTube channel.
Who Is It For?
This is an adult-only city festival. All events are 18 and over, and ID may be requested at entry.
The shape is closer to a run of venue shows than a camping weekender: performances and DJ sets across Newcastle, with broadcast highlights afterwards.
The Venue and Site
Newcastle is the site rather than a field. The festival uses various independent and grassroots venues across Newcastle, keeping the programme inside the city’s existing live-music circuit.
There is no on-site camping. Daily capacity is 4,800.
