Zyna Hel is the main solo project of multidisciplinary artist Elisabeth Oswell. Oswell has previously performed and released music under a small number of aliases, and has spent time stepping back from that work to develop her craft.

The project makes songs that focus on death and obliteration, and it is described as working with ideas of fragility, metaphysical force and a liminal, uneasy mood. Its music is presented as being tied to a sense of crossing into a seductive abyss.
