Zomboy
Zomboy is Joshua Mellody, a British electronic music producer and sound engineer from Penzance, Cornwall. Born in 1989, he begins his career in recording and engineering in the United States before returning to the U.K. He first releases electro tracks and cover versions under the name Place Your Bet$, then adopts the name Zomboy, which is inspired by the video game Left 4 Dead.
Style and influences
Zomboy’s music ranges across dubstep, drum and bass, electro house and related bass music styles. His work is described as aggressive and heavy, with influences from Skrillex and Rusko reflected in his approach.
Releases
He launches Zomboy in 2011 with the Game Time EP on Never Say Die. The EP spends eight weeks among Beatport’s top five dubstep releases. Later in 2011, his music and remixes appear on compilations on labels including Warner and Ministry of Sound.
In 2012 he releases the Dead Symphonic EP, followed by the single Kick It. In 2013, Firepower Records issues Here to Stay, featuring Lady Chann, and Never Say Die and its sister label No Tomorrow release the two-part EP Reanimated. Never Say Die also releases his debut album The Outbreak in 2014, along with the remix album Resurrected in 2015. The Neon Grave EP follows in 2016.
