Zero Hour
Zero Hour is a progressive metal band formed in Pleasanton, California in 1993 by twin brothers Jasun Tipton and Troy Tipton. The band is signed to Sensory and is associated with progressive metal, technical metal and related heavy styles, with some listings also linking it to hardcore.
Line-up and development
Chris Salinas joins the band as vocalist for Specs of Pictures Burnt Beyond in 2006, replacing Fred Marshall. Before joining Zero Hour, Salinas fronts Power of Omens, another progressive metal band that disbands in 2005 after releasing two albums.
Albums
Zero Hour releases Zero Hour in 1999, followed by The Towers of Avarice in 2001, Metamorphosis as a re-release in 2003, A Fragile Mind in 2005, Specs of Pictures Burnt Beyond in 2006 and Dark Deceiver in 2008.
Later activity
The band later disbands after Troy Tipton suffers an arm injury that prevents him from continuing to play in the same way, particularly with the left-hand-heavy tapping and legato bass lines used in the group's material. Jasun Tipton says Troy has surgery and works to regain strength, but the injury leaves him unable to return to the same demands. After Zero Hour, Jasun and Troy focus on two other projects: the instrumental group Abnormal Thought Patterns and the vocally driven Cynthesis.
