Zement

Zement is an instrumental kraut-psych duo from Würzburg, Germany, active since 2014. The group consists of Christian Büdel and Philipp Hager.

Its music draws on repetitive krautrock structures, psychedelic rock, drones, noise and electronica. The duo works with both analog and digital approaches, often building long improvised jams that move between straight-ahead passages and pieces centred on a single sound idea.

Drums, guitar, synthesizers, samplers and other sound materials are part of the group’s setup. Zement presents its work as a reworking of older forms into new shapes, with an emphasis on instrumental experimentation and a cosmic, drifting quality.
