Yousuke Yukimatsu

Yousuke Yukimatsu, also styled as ¥ØU$UK€ ¥UK1MAT$U, is a Japanese DJ and producer from Osaka. He is active in Japan’s club scene and is associated with underground music and an experimental approach to DJing.

Early life and musical influences

Yukimatsu is born in Osaka and grows up listening to classic rock at home, particularly through his father’s interest in Deep Purple. He later describes that exposure as a valuable education, even though he does not initially feel drawn to the music. In his early youth he mainly listens to pop, then broadens his taste in his teenage years, moving through hard rock and metal in middle school and then alternative rock acts such as Sonic Youth, as well as electronic music including The Prodigy, in high school.

DJ career

He begins DJing in 2008, first playing at a friend’s party in Osaka before becoming a regular name on local line-ups. He develops his career in the underground music scene during the 2010s and later gains recognition in the Japanese club circuit. A key moment comes in 2014, when he performs alongside techno DJ Nobu. Impressed by the set, DJ Nobu invites him to Future Terror in Tokyo, which helps establish his reputation.

Later recognition and style

Yukimatsu originally works in construction, but in 2016 he is diagnosed with a malignant brain tumour and leaves that job. After treatment and two operations, he concentrates fully on DJing and develops a more experimental style. He is also known for performing topless during his sets.

Wider attention

In early 2025, he draws wider attention for a Boiler Room set in Tokyo that becomes one of the platform’s most-viewed videos, reaching more than twelve million views on YouTube within half a year. The set includes references to artists such as Romy and Overmono, and incorporates acid house elements.
