Young Liar

Young Liar is a five-piece instrumental rock band from Newcastle upon Tyne, England. The group forms in mid-2010 for what is initially planned as a one-off gig, then continues as a working band and remains active.

Style and releases

The band’s early material is rooted in guitar-based post-rock. Its later sound also draws on electronica, noise-rock, krautrock and post-punk. Young Liar follows its debut release in 2011 with a second EP issued through Newcastle independent label The Calico Print.

Live activity and associations

Young Liar performs across the UK and supports acts including Three Trapped Tigers, I Like Trains, The Twilight Sad, Errors, Male Bonding and Ice Age. Festival appearances include Sunderland’s Split Festival, Live At Leeds 2011 and Brainwash Festival VI. Press comparisons place the band alongside artists such as Neu!, My Bloody Valentine, Explosions In The Sky, Spacemen 3, Errors and Nine Inch Nails.
