Yeti Lane
Yeti Lane is a French indie pop and dream pop group active since 2008. The trio consists of Charlie, Ben and LoAc, and all three are also members of Cyann & Ben. Charlie plays drums and percussion, as well as synthesizers, organ, mellotron, drumbox and loops. Ben handles vocals, acoustic and electric guitar, bass, portasound, synthesizers and related keyboard parts. LoAc contributes vocals, acoustic and electric guitar, bass, bass synth, synthesizers, organ and mellotron.
The project begins when the three musicians move away from the more ethereal and lyrical style associated with Cyann & Ben and pursue a more direct, rhythmic form of indie rock. Their music combines pop melodies, tribal beats, krautrock-style synthesizers and hypnotic guitars, with a sound built from vintage keyboards, layered electronics and strong drum patterns. They also work with a self-produced approach, composing and recording new material in their own studio.
Their style keeps the pop format at the centre but expands it with more elaborate arrangements and an approach that sits between vintage and modern sounds. Their music is described as drawing on influences such as David Grubbs, the Velvet Underground, Syd Barrett, Kraftwerk and The Flaming Lips.
