Yes Cadets
Yes Cadets are a Belfast-based trio formed in 2009. The group consists of singer and guitarist Alan Haslam, singer and drummer Lisa Mageean, and bassist Steven Matthews.
Style and influences
Their music combines reverb-heavy guitars with rhythmic art-pop, and is associated with indie, indie pop, dance punk, rock and dance. Their sound draws on influences including LCD Soundsystem, The Knife, The Cure and My Bloody Valentine.
Activity and releases
The band gains attention for its live performances and plays festival dates across Europe, including Glastonbury, MiDEM and Berlin Festival. It also supports acts such as The Antlers, Yuck and Guillemots. Yes Cadets release the EP Le Mans on Humming Records and Rough Trade, and it includes the single Seconds In A Minute, which wins a BBC 6music Rebel Playlist place.
