WU LYF

WU LYF are an art rock and indie rock group from Manchester, United Kingdom. The name is pronounced “Woo Life” and stands for World Unite Lucifer Youth Foundation. The band forms in 2008 and remains active.

Overview

WU LYF build a reputation around mystery, declining interview requests and giving little information to the press. Their music is described by the band as “heavy pop”, and their sound is associated with lo-fi, indie, experimental, psychedelic and heavy-pop styles, alongside post-punk and post-rock influences.

Releases and activity

The group releases its debut album, Go Tell Fire to the Mountain, in 2011. After that they disappear quietly from view. In 2025, they return with the single “A New Life Is Coming”, which points towards a second album, A Wave That Will Never Break, due in 2026.

The line-up consists of Ellery James Roberts on vocals and organ, Thomas David Francis McClung on vocals, bass and guitar, Evans Kati on vocals, guitar and harmonica, and Joseph Louis Harlan Manning on drums and piano.
