Wrexx

Wrexx is a producer and DJ from Tallahassee who works in breaks. He develops his own music from a background that includes live drums, guitar and piano, which he starts playing at the age of 12. He also grows up around his father’s recording studio, where he learns about recording and sound production.

Production and releases

After more than a decade of making music, Wrexx begins releasing original material after issuing several remixes on different labels. His tracks use melodic passages, arranged sections and gritty synthesizer sounds. He releases a first four-track EP on En:Vision Recordings, after which his profile grows internationally. He also finishes remixes of Future Funk Squad’s track About to Fall. Earlier, Future Funk Squad hears Wrexx’s tracks Tasteless Words and Timeline and compares the sound to early Hybrid and BT, with production aimed at dance floors.

Live work and radio

As a performer, Wrexx DJs widely and mixes tracks while cutting and scratching. He also presents a bi-weekly radio show on DI.FM called Revibe Sessions.

Reception

Far Too Loud of Funkatech Recordings UK singles out Wrexx’s Caught Twisted EP after listening to a large number of tracks on Beatport, describing it as one of the releases that stands out.
