Wretch is the name used by several different acts, including a Finnish artist associated with Trilogia, a US power/thrash metal band, a doom metal band from Indianapolis, and a Canadian ambient dungeon synth project.

Finnish artist

Wretch is a Finnish artist and is identified as Markus Wennerström. This project is associated with Trilogia.

Power/thrash metal band

Wretch also refers to a power/thrash metal band from Cleveland, Ohio. It releases a 3-track demo titled Rise To Power in 1989, a debut album called Reborn in 2006, and a 4-track EP titled Rise to Power in 2013. The band’s second full-length album, Warriors, appears on Pure Steel in 2014.

Doom metal band

Another Wretch is a doom metal band from Indianapolis, Indiana. The group takes its name from the final album by The Gates of Slumber and includes former members Karl Simon on vocals and guitar and Chris Gordon on drums, with Bryce Clarke on bass. The band releases its first album, Wretch, on Bad Omen Records in 2016. Its lyrics deal with addiction, despair and loss, with loss forming a central theme because the material is written after the death of Jason McCash, the bassist of The Gates of Slumber.

Ambient dungeon synth project

Wretch is also used by a one-person ambient dungeon synth project from the eastern shores of Canada. This project draws on other one-person black metal and ambient acts, as well as nature and themes of dusk and shadow.
