Worship

Worship is a doom metal and funeral doom metal group from München, Germany, active since 1999. It is a funeral doom project founded in the late 1990s by Max Varnier, known as “Fucked Up Mad” Max, from France, and Daniel, known as “The Doommonger,” from Germany.

Early releases and first formation

The band enters the scene with Last Tape Before Doomsday, a cassette release from 1999. That recording contains four songs built around slow, minimal doom metal, with harsh vocals from Max and lead guitar work from Daniel. After that, Worship issues several split releases on vinyl.

Pause and continuation

The project stops after Max dies by suicide in 2001. In 2003, Daniel continues Worship and begins work on a second full-length release, DOOOM, which appears in 2007.

Line-up changes and live activity

In 2004, two new members, Kuolema and Satachrist, join the band. New recordings made with this line-up lead to a split release with Loss in 2005. Worship also plays live several times in autumn 2005.
