Wonderswan

Wonderswan is an indie rock band from Leeds, UK, formed in early 2008. The group develops out of a shared interest in scuzzy 1990s lo-fi slacker bands, and its first recordings circulate as the untitled Bear CDR, which it gives away for free to audiences and friends.

Early activity and live appearances

Wonderswan quickly plays with acts including Times New Viking, No Age, Copy Haho and Lovvers. It also tours the UK with Copy Haho, supports Sky Larkin on a UK tour, and appears on the BBC Introducing stage at Reading and Leeds festivals in 2009.

Recordings and releases

In May 2009, “Hey Nature” appears as the opening track on the Dance To The Radio 4x12" compilation series, bringing the band to a wider audience. Its first single, “Furrrpile”, is released as a limited edition 7-inch in October 2009. After time spent writing and recording new material, the band records songs in different rooms of its members’ homes using 4-track tape recorders, a laptop and a collection of microphones. That material is issued as the cassette EP I Wish I Was Deep Instead of Just Macho on Sea Owl Records.

Line-up

Wonderswan consists of Steve Guttenberg on guitar, Bobcat Goldthwaite on guitar and human voice, Rick Moranis on drummings, and Tom Selleck on moustaches and bass guitar.
