Wolfgang Gartner

Wolfgang Gartner is the recording name of Joey Youngman, a producer and DJ from San Luis Obispo, United States, who is based in Austin, Texas. He works in electro house, electronic music, complextro, EDM and related house styles.

Career

He begins producing electronic music at 11, using a drum machine and keyboard connected by MIDI, and learns to DJ at 12 with a 4-track tape recorder and two tape decks. Before adopting the Wolfgang Gartner name, he releases deep house under his own name, Joseph Youngman, until late 2007.

In 2004, after a year of successful releases, he signs to the San Francisco-based Blue Collar Entertainment agency and starts touring. In 2007, he changes to the Wolfgang Gartner alias and moves towards electro house, tech house and techno. That year he places three singles in Beatport’s top 10, receives a Pete Tong “essential new tune of the week” mention on BBC Radio 1, and earns two video game licences.
