Witness

Witness is a US gospel vocal group with Marvie Wright as a member. The name is also used by several unrelated groups and solo acts across different styles, including hard rock, hardcore, alternative rock, indie hip-hop, and Christian hip-hop and reggae.

One Witness is a hard rock and AOR band from Atlanta, Georgia, formed in 1986 under the name Native before changing to Witness. This line-up includes Debbie Davis on vocals, and the group releases a self-titled album in 1988. That record becomes difficult to find and is known for fetching high prices in online auctions; the band’s sound is compared mainly to Vixen.

Another Witness is an active hardcore band from Mountain Lakes, New Jersey. It first appears with the demo Embrace Your Nihilist Self in summer 2009, then becomes less active for a period while members return to colleges across the northeast. The band resumes activity in summer 2010 and records an LP titled Another Place, Another Time.

There is also an indie-hip-hop artist named Witness from Morrisville, Pennsylvania, who lives in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This artist releases the EPs The Evermore EP and The Eversince EP, collaborates with producer Mobb Robb on the 2008 EP .45 Sweetheart, and is signed to Rockwell Product Shop in Japan.

A different Witness is an alternative rock band formed in Wigan, England in 1997, with Gerard Starkie on vocals and guitar, Ray Chan on guitar, Dylan Keeton on bass, John Langley on drums, and Julian Pransky-Poole joining on guitar from mid-1999. This group releases Before The Calm and Under A Sun before splitting in 2004.

Another Witness is a Christian hip-hop and reggae artist from Birmingham, West Midlands, known for lyrics focused on anti-violence and encouragement. The track “Tooled Up For School” is among the songs linked to this project, and the artist performs in Midlands schools, including Wodensborough CTC in Wednesbury.

Yet another Witness is a hardcore band from Jensen Beach, Florida, made up of members connected with versaemerge, montpellier, nikki nova, nightmares, and other groups. This version of Witness issues a three-song EP and plays shows across south Florida, with two reunion shows also taking place.
