Witch Post
Witch Post is a group made up of Scottish musician Dylan Fraser and Los Angeles singer-songwriter Alaska Reid. Both artists come to the project after working as solo acts, with Fraser associated with the UK alternative scene and Reid with the American indie scene. The two meet by chance and later discover that they are from towns with the same name, one in Scotland and one in Montana.
The group’s music sits across indie pop, indie rock, garage rock and rock. Their songs aim to draw together what they describe as the force of Scottish rock and roll and the openness of American music. Their writing also focuses on exploring personal feeling and the structure of the world around them.
The name Witch Post refers to 17th-century carvings found in rural England that were made to ward off witches. Fraser and Reid take the name in honour of the witch. The group presents itself as a way of reclaiming band music.
