Winslow
Winslow is the name of more than one group. One is a soul-rock band from Cleveland, United States, and another is a drum and bass artist based in St. Louis, Missouri.
Soul-rock band
The Cleveland group is a six-piece act whose sound blends soul, rock and pop. It shares the stage with acts including Incubus, Earth Wind & Fire, OAR, Robert Randolph, Lupe Fiasco, Bret Michaels and Rusted Root. The band’s second album follows four years of development and change, and it involves producer Edwin “Tony” Nicholas, who has worked with Gerald Levert, Barry White and Mary J Blige, and engineer Nick Chahwala, whose credits include Katy Perry, Mariah Carey and Gym Class Heroes. Material from the album appears on MSN.com and AOL.com, and songs from it lead to licensing deals with MTV, VH-1, E! and The Discovery Networks.
Drum and bass artist
The other Winslow is a producer, DJ, multi-instrumentalist, composer, music teacher and tea enthusiast from St. Louis, Missouri, working in drum and bass. Releases appear on Spearhead, Soulvent, Goldfat, Pilot and Hospital Records. In 2013, Winslow begins exploring drum and bass more directly, drawing on a long-standing interest in video games and production work started a couple of years earlier. The music spans a wide range of drum and bass styles and is marked by careful production, melodic writing and a distinctive rhythmic approach. The artist gains early support from Mitekiss, Mr Porter and London Elektricity.
Other use of the name
The name also appears on a short-lived experimental metal band from Pittsburgh.
