Wily Bo Walker
Wily Bo Walker is a London-born solo artist, songwriter, composer, session vocalist and performer, born in 1957. He works across blues, soul, jazz, alternative and adult contemporary music, and is noted for his characterful vocals and live performances.
Projects and collaborations
He fronts Rattlin Bone and The Mescal Canyon Troubadours, and is also associated with the Wily Bo Walker Quintet and The Heartbeats. His work includes a long-running collaboration with E D Brayshaw, as well as releases with Kareña K and with Danny Flam, a multiple Grammy Award-winning musician and arranger.
Recordings
In 2013 he releases Wily Bo Walker & The Danny Flam Big Band, which receives worldwide critical acclaim and is considered for a Grammy nomination. In 2015 he releases a trilogy of albums: the mini-album A Long Way from Heaven… with Kareña K, Stone Cold Beautiful with E D Brayshaw, and Moon Over Indigo with Danny Flam. Moon Over Indigo is also considered for a Grammy nomination.
He also releases the compilation twin albums The Wily Bo Walker Story Volumes I & II, and works on material based around stories, tales and drunken fables from his one-man blues and swamp’n’stomp show Welcome to VoodooVille.
Recognition
His songs and releases receive several chart and award mentions, including a number one placing in the Netherlands’ Hit-Tracks Top 100 with “Who Do You Love (NY Chiller Mix)”, runner-up positions in the British Blues Awards and Severn FM Blues awards, and a best male vocals nomination at the British Blues Awards. He also has tracks featured on covermount CDs with The Blues magazine, and is listed as a much-played blues artist on UK independent blues radio shows.
