Will Taylor is a performer, composer, arranger and producer whose work spans viola jazz and collaborative string-led projects. He is associated with Strings Attached and has also worked as a member of Flyte.

Career

Taylor spends 17 years with the Austin Lyric Opera orchestra and also has a brief period with the Turtle Island String Quartet. His time with Turtle Island String Quartet leads to an interview on CBS Sunday Morning.

He has three nationally released viola jazz recordings: Reel Life on Amazing, Simple Gifts on Igmod, and Live from Austin on Cymekob. These recordings receive radio play on non-commercial stations across the United States, including a soundbyte on NPR’s All Things Considered.

Collaborations

Through Strings Attached, Taylor presents genre-crossing musical projects and works with a wide range of artists, including Shawn Colvin, James McMurtry, Dar Williams, Bob Schneider, Eliza Gilkyson, Ray Wylie Hubbard, John Dee Graham, Kelly Willis, 8 1/2 Souvenirs, Michael Fracasso, Kimmie Rhodes, Podunk, Darden Smith, Chip Taylor and Carrie Rodriguez.

Recognition

He wins the Austin Music Award for Best Strings in 2005 and 2006.
