Whales in Cubicles
Whales in Cubicles are an alternative rock group from the United Kingdom, based in London. The band is founded by singer Stef Bernardi and is active from 2009. Its members are Simon Bennett, Leo Weston, Jamie Powell, Stefano Bernardi and Alex Pyper.
Formation and name
The group takes its name from Andrew Bird’s song “Plasticities”. Its early demos are self-recorded and shared online before the band draws wider attention.
Recordings and releases
Young and Lost Club releases “We Never Win” as the band’s first single. The single is later played by XFM’s John Kennedy as his X-posure Big One, and the band appears on his One Night Stand live session in February 2012. Their first album, Death in the Evening, is released in 2014.
