Weval

Weval is an electronic music duo from Amsterdam, the Netherlands, made up of Harm Coolen and Merijn Scholte-Albers. The pair meet while working in the film industry in 2010 and go on to build a body of work centred on subdued, atmospheric electronic production. The group name comes from the Dutch word waterval, meaning waterfall.

Recorded output

Weval release their debut Half Age EP in 2013. They follow it with a series of singles and EPs, alongside four full-length albums: Weval in 2016, The Weight in 2019, Remember in 2023 and Chorophobia in 2025.

Style

The duo’s music is described through terms including ambient techno, breakbeat, breaks, club, dance and deep house, with a downtempo, minimal and electronic approach.
