Westernsynthetics

Westernsynthetics is a producer from Sydney, Australia, working in dubstep, dub, experimental electronic music and sub continental dub. His live work combines acid, dub, techno and electronic psychedelia, and he draws on soundscapes, live instrumentation and lyrical imagery in his productions.

Releases and recording

His debut album, May Day Radio, is described as moving between high-technology electronica and a more soulful, traditional dub style, with drones and drifting textures. His debut 12-inch LP Engine No. 999 is released on Sub Continental Dub and distributed internationally by Cargo Records. Both Engine No. 999 and May Day Radio are associated with Sub Continental Dub.

Live work and performances

Westernsynthetics performs regularly at Australian dubstep nights and appears at festivals including Rainbow Serpent and Peats Ridge Festival in Australia. His live shows are built around his own blend of electronic styles and psychedelic elements.

Collaborations and recognition

He supports a range of dubstep and bass music artists, including Distance, Scuba, Caspa, Skream, Benga, Cotti, 2562, Gravious, Tes La Rok, Spherix, Emalkay and Deadbeat. In 2009, he is nominated in the Australian Songwriters Association Awards for Best Instrumental Composition for Engine No. 999.

International activity

Westernsynthetics tours Europe and performs at Outlook Festival in Croatia. His selection for that festival marks an Australian producer appearing there for the first time.
