Wesley Joseph

Wesley Joseph is a British rapper, singer, songwriter, producer and filmmaker. He moves to London to study filmmaking, then begins making music that draws on rap, R&B, soul, future-pop and UK garage. His work spans songwriting, performance and production, and he also continues to make films, including many of his own videos.

Collaborators and early work

In London, he works with a wide group of collaborators that includes A.K. Paul, Dave Okumu, Joy Orbison, Leon Vynehall, Lexxx, Loyle Carner and his childhood friend Jorja Smith. These connections help shape his early recordings and place him within a circle that crosses rap, electronic music and contemporary British soul.

ULTRAMARINE

His debut project, ULTRAMARINE, appears in 2021 on his own imprint, EEVILTWINN. It presents a dense, textured blend of avant-R&B and soulful future-pop, moving between psychedelic ballads and hard hip-hop verses, sometimes within the same track. The songs focus on love, ambition and uncertainty for a young generation trying to make sense of life while the wider world feels unstable.

GLOW

He later releases GLOW on Secretly Canadian. The release contains eight songs that continue his focus on love, loss, anxiety and joy, with songs about coming of age during a period of change. It shows a broad range of sounds, from warm analogue synths and layered vocals to nocturnal hedonism, vintage-soul textures and UK garage influences.

Style and themes

Joseph’s music often combines cinematic detail with genre-crossing production. His lyrics and arrangements move between reflective soul, electronic textures and rap delivery, while his visual work remains part of his wider artistic practice.
