We Are Shining
We Are Shining is a London duo made up of A-Cyde and Morgan Zarate. The group works across hip-hop, soul, blues, electronic and reggae, and its sound is described through vocal-led beats, raw percussion, noise and sharp shifts between quiet and intense passages. It does not follow a single genre, instead drawing on a wide mix of influences in a forward-looking style.
The duo releases music through Marathon Artists. Its debut track, Wheel, appears in October 2013. In 2013, We Are Shining also collaborates with Eliza Doolittle on Killing and with Rose Gabor on Devileye, both of which help establish its reputation for distinctive tracks and striking visuals.
The act's debut album, Kara, includes tracks such as Breaks, Thru The Dark, Road and Stagedive. The record brings together space soul, heavy drums and a broad set of musical influences, with references ranging from Fela Kuti to Jimi Hendrix.
