Wasia Project

Wasia Project is a UK group formed in 2019 by siblings William Gao and Olivia Hardy. The duo draws on their mixed British-East Asian heritage and classical training, and writes songs that blend jazz, bedroom pop and classical influences.

The group releases music in the pop, bedroom pop and jazz pop sphere. Its early run includes four independent singles. The project later expands to a live band that includes Luca Wade on drums and Tom Pacitti on bass, with Safi Jazz and Patrick Minton also listed as members.

Wasia Project also incorporates theatre into its live performances. Its songwriting is described as starting from simple ideas, with piano playing a central role in the writing process.
