Warface

Warface is an American death metal band from San Diego, California, United States, active from 2000. The group performs brutal death metal and is described as combining aggressive technical riffing with heavy, pounding rhythms.

Line-up

Warface is a trio featuring Dave Smith on vocals and bass, Laura Christine on guitar, and Tyson Jupin on drums. The original line-up is completed in January 2001, when former drummer Scott Ellis joins the band; Tyson Jupin later replaces him in 2006.

Background

Before Warface, Dave Smith and Laura Christine play together in the San Diego death metal band Damnation in 1998, until that group disbands. Smith brings bass, vocal and stage experience to the band, while Christine has many years of guitar and live performance experience. Jupin is previously best known for his work in Vile, where he appears on the albums Depopulate and The New Age of Chaos.

Recognition and releases

The band signs with Deathquake Records, Inc. in 2004 and returns to the studio in 2005 to record a full-length album. Warface receives positive attention from metal audiences, critics, radio shows and magazines. The band is also recognised by BC Rich Guitars, which features Laura Christine in its catalogue, and by KXK Guitars, which designs a custom Warface V guitar line and develops a signature War bass series.
