Waka Flocka Flame is the stage name of Juaquin Malphurs, an American rapper born in 1986 in South Jamaica, United States. He is associated with gangsta rap, hip hop and trap, and is signed to So Icey Entertainment.

He grows up in Riverdale, Georgia after moving there from Jamaica, Queens, New York at the age of nine. He is the son of Debra Antney, who serves as Gucci Mane’s former manager and the CEO of So Icey/Mizay Entertainment. His stage name combines “Waka”, taken from Fozzie Bear, and “Flocka Flame”, a name given to him by Gucci Mane.

Career

Waka Flocka Flame is a member of 1017 Brick Squad and Bricksquad. His debut single, “O Let’s Do It”, reaches No. 62 on the Billboard Hot 100, and his first album, Flockavelli, is released later in 2010. He later releases “Round of Applause” as an official single from his second album, Triple F Life: Friends, Fans and Family. He also appears on Lil Jon’s Crunk Rock on “Throw It Up, Pt. 2 (Remix)”, alongside Pastor Troy.

In 2010, he is shot in the arm during an attempted robbery at a car wash in Atlanta, Georgia.
