Vulva
Vulva is a UK electronic duo made up of Tim Hutton and Thomas Melchior. The pair form an IDM and experimental techno act, and they are associated with the Rephlex label, which releases their work alongside material linked to the broader Acid and braindance scene.
History
Hutton and Melchior form Vulva in 1993 in England. Their first domestic release is the Mini Space Vulvette EP on Reflective Records. They then sign to Rephlex and release From the Cockpit in 1995.
After a side project for the German Source Records label under the name Yoni, with releases titled Yoni and My Little Yoni, the duo issue their second full-length Rephlex album, Birdwatch, in 1995. Vulvic Yonification follows in late 1997.
Style and context
The group works in experimental techno and IDM, with the braindance and Acid tags also applied to their music. Their connection to Rephlex places them in a label associated with Aphex Twin.
