Viva Belgrado

Viva Belgrado is a Spanish group from Córdoba, active since 2011. It works in emo, post-hardcore, post-rock and screamo, and its line-up consists of Cándido Gálvez on lead vocals and guitar, Pedro Ruíz on guitar, Ángel Madueño on bass and Álvaro Moreno on drums.

The band’s music combines screamo with post-rock, and its post-rock side is compared with acts such as Envy, Explosions in the Sky, Raein and Moving Mountains. The lyrics focus on emotional subjects and use metaphorical, poetic language rather than direct political commentary, even though the group identifies as feminist and anti-fascist, is vegetarian, and supports the LGBT scene.

Releases

Viva Belgrado releases its first demo in 2012, followed in 2013 by the EP El Invierno. Both are reissued in 2013 with bonus tracks by Tokyo Jupiter Records. The band’s debut full-length, Flores, Carne, appears in 2015, and its second studio album, Ulises, is released in 2016 through Aloud Music and Walking Is Still Honest Records.
