Viscula

Viscula is an indie rock and funk group founded in 2002 in Lutsk, in western Ukraine. The group’s line-up includes Nazar Valthuk on vocals, Vitaliy Malyshko on guitar, Borus Nespay on bass guitar, and Ostap Suhotskiy on drums.

Activity and performances

The group maintains a regular touring schedule in Ukraine and appears in clubs and at festivals across the country. It is a frequent guest at events including I and Guitar in Rivne, Premiere in Kherson, Rock-south in Mykolaiv, Sumy Rock-fest in Sumy, Rock Island in Kharkiv, Rock-valise in Simferopol, and festivals in Lutsk such as Up-fest, Red Ruta, and Other Measuring.

International work

Viscula performs a program called 10th Wonder of the World in English at international festivals. It wins first prizes in two nominations at Together to the Top in Wzheshnya, Poland, receives second distinction at Chelmstock in Chelm, Poland, and also plays at We Play Together in Pleshev, Poland, and at the club U Grudku.

Recordings and collaborations

Some of the group’s songs are played on the Polish radio stations Lublin and Kalish, and appear on the audio collection Together to the Top, which is released in Poland, Italy, Latvia, and Finland. Viscula also takes part in international collaborations, including joint compositions with Etanis from Poland and Scrausa Bestia from Italy, musical accompaniment for German bard singer Klaudia and the Polish rap group Soloprojekt, and jam sessions with the progressive rock group Augustbehn.
