Vinny Peculiar
Vinny Peculiar is the pseudonym of Alan Wilkes, a performance poet and songwriter from Bromsgrove who is based in Manchester. His work sits in pop, and he is associated with the North West of England and the UK independent music scene.
Career and collaborations
Peculiar’s bands have included members of the Smiths, the Fall and Oasis. He tours theatres and concert halls in Europe and has opened for Arab Strap and the Divine Comedy. He also appears regularly as a compere and performer on the Glastonbury Festival Acoustic Stage.
Other projects
Alongside his songwriting, Peculiar works in other creative areas. He creates soup art with Bill Drummond, makes films with Tom Robinson, and produces records by tompaulin.
Recordings
His seventh studio album, Goodbye My Angry Friend, is released on Pronoia Records.
