Villages is a folk group from Nova Scotia, Canada. It is also the recording name used by Asheville, North Carolina resident Ross Gentry. Under this name, Gentry performs and records music built from dense layers of guitar and synthesizer, with glacial drone textures and narrative soundscapes. The music is described as drawing on the fragility of early ambient music as well as the structure and elegance of symphonic composition.
