VerMin

VerMin is a Swedish death metal band from Nässjö that forms in 1991 and is active until the present day. The group begins as a death metal act and later develops into death ’n’ roll. It is described as a Swedish death metal band, and its listed styles include death metal and death ’n’ roll.

Style and influences

The band’s sound combines death metal with progressive elements and later death ’n’ roll. Its cited influences include Cannibal Corpse, Hate Eternal, Morbid Angel, Cryptopsy, Immolation and Deranged, alongside Meshuggah and The Dillinger Escape Plan.

Activity and releases

VerMin is formed by drummer Pascal and guitarist Ron after the end of their former band. The group rehearses heavily and builds up a large set of songs before recording its first complete five-piece line-up demo, Alea Iacta Est. The three songs on that demo lead to a number of live bookings.

The band then prepares a second demo, the full-length Solypsis, which appears in 2003 and includes a bonus video for the song “Deviate”.

In May 2004 singer Thomas leaves because of a lack of interest in death metal, and Laurens joins as vocalist. The band records 16 tracks at Excess studios in Rotterdam in October 2004 for A Nihilistic Swarm. More time is spent on production than on the earlier releases, and the album includes bonus videos: a new clip and footage from the recording sessions.

VerMin signs to Deity Down Records and releases A Nihilistic Swarm in 2006. A launch performance takes place in a CD store, followed by appearances at the “Fuck The Commerce” festival in Luckau, Germany, alongside Extreme Noise Terror, Hate Eternal, Gut and Embedded. The band also completes a three-day tour of Portugal in 2006 and later joins Brazilian band Insurrection Down on a European tour that includes Germany, the Czech Republic, Poland, Switzerland, Belgium and the Netherlands.

Line-up

The line-up listed for the band is Wolf on guitars, Laurens on vocals, Ron on guitars and backing vocals, Pascal on drums, and Rob on bass as a session musician.
