VCR

VCR is a punk band from Richmond, Virginia, active since 2002. It is a five-piece group with a stable line-up: Chad Middleton handles vocals and keyboard, Mya Anitai sings and plays keyboard, Casey Tomlin plays keyboard, Steve Smith plays bass, and Christian Newby plays drums.

The band’s sound combines punk rock and electronica, and it is also tagged with dance punk, rock and Nintendocore. Its style is shaped by frenetic lyrics, three keyboards, and the absence of guitar, which leaves the bass part more exposed in the arrangement. The group is also associated with the label “adventure funcore,” although it does not use that description itself.
