Vaughan

Vaughan is the performing name of a musician from Pembury, United Kingdom, born in 1995. The act begins as a band project in Manchester in 2006, formed by frontman Mike Lees. Its music is described as piano- and guitar-led, with Lees handling the songwriting and vocals.

The project draws on a wide range of influences, including Nick Cave, Johnny Cash, Portishead and Al Stewart. These influences contribute to a dark, eerie rock sound. The lineup changes over time, and at one point includes Sam Yaytes of Ingested on guitar.

Vaughan’s repertoire includes unfinished material alongside songs that are close to completion, including Mr Ripper. The group also works on covers of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, the Birthday Party, Leonard Cohen and Johnny Cash.
