Vanilla Ace
Vanilla Ace is the house project of Sam Young, a London-based DJ and producer. He starts DJing at 17, drawing on hip hop, drum & bass and house, and creates the Vanilla Ace alias in 2012 to focus on a new strain of house music shaped by those influences.
Releases and labels
His early releases are picked up by Toolroom, Southern Fried and MODA. He then builds a catalogue with releases on Nurvous, Suara, Simma Black, Enormous, LouLou Records and Milk & Sugar. In 2013 he issues the Musicology EP on OFF recordings, and his track “Bring it Back” spends seven weeks in the Beatport Deep House top 10.
Collaborations and remixes
Vanilla Ace works with Sharam Jey and Illusionize on Bunny Tiger. He also remixes recordings by Basement Jaxx, Destructo, Yolanda Be Cool, Deadmau5, Vintage Culture, Kylie and Moon Boots.
Recognition and touring
His releases reach high positions on Beatport, Traxsource and Trackitdown, and he is named one of Beatport’s top 10 best-selling Nu Disco/Indie Dance artists for both 2014 and 2015. His music receives support from artists including Pete Tong, Tiesto and Seth Troxler. He tours internationally across North America, Brazil, Australia, South Africa and India, and performs at events and venues including Green Valley in Brazil, Holy Ship, HARD Summer and Egg in London.
