Vamanos is a Brixton-based DJ and producer associated with international club music from the southern hemisphere, including styles often grouped under labels such as global ghettotech and tropical. He develops an interest in this sound after hearing bass-heavy music from local producers during extended trips through Latin America in 2004.

DJ work and club appearances

Vamanos brings these sounds into his DJ sets, which he plays at Radioclit’s monthly Secousse parties at the Notting Hill Arts Club in London. His sets focus on dance music that links regional styles with production methods and beats associated with Western genres such as techno, house and grime, often with hip-hop- or ragga-influenced vocals.

Ghetto Bassquake

He also runs Ghetto Bassquake, a music blog covering international club music. The site has been active for over three years and builds a readership that grows steadily, with a reputation for focusing on contemporary sounds from across the global dance music scene.
