Valeria Castro

Valeria Castro Rodríguez is a Spanish singer and songwriter from Los Llanos de Aridane, La Palma, in the Canary Islands. She is born in 1999.

She develops an interest in music from an early age and studies piano and singing at the Insular School of Music of La Palma when she is four. She later studies biotechnology at the Polytechnic University of Madrid while building her music career.

Her sound draws on flamenco, indie folk and alternative rock, and she works within the broader space of folk and folk pop. Her recorded debut comes in 2021 with the EP chiquita. In 2023 she releases her first full-length album, con cariño y con cuidado.

She gains wider recognition through her solo work and collaborations with other artists. Her songwriting receives public recognition in 2023, when she is nominated for a Latin Grammy Award in the Best Singer-Songwriter Song category for “La Raíz” and wins Best Song of the Year at the 2023 Canarian Music Awards.
