UPSAHL is the mononym of Taylor Cameron Upsahl, an American singer-songwriter from Phoenix, United States. Born in 1998, she starts performing and recording at a young age and develops a style that combines pop, indie pop and electronic elements with alternative songwriting.

Early life and training

UPSAHL begins playing guitar and piano at the age of five. She attends Arizona School for the Arts and receives classical training in piano, guitar and voice. She also releases music as Taylor Upsahl, including a self-titled EP at the age of 14.

Early releases

In 2015, she writes and self-produces her full-length debut album, Viscerotonic. Her third album, Unfamiliar Light, follows in 2017. That same year she releases her first single, Can You Hear Me Now, and performs at McDowell Mountain Music Festival in Phoenix, opening for The Shins, Beck and Flume.

Label releases and breakthrough

UPSAHL signs to Arista Records in 2018 and becomes the first artist signed to the relaunched label. She makes her major-label debut in 2019 with the EP Hindsight 20/20 and the single Drugs. The song reaches number 6 on the Viral Chart and number 1 on the Sounds Trends Chart, and is used in nearly 2 million TikTok videos.

Continued releases and collaborations

In 2020, she releases 12345SEX, followed by the singles People I Don't Like and MoneyOnMyMind, both of which appear on her second EP, Young Life Crisis. Billboard names the EP one of the Top 25 Pop albums of the year. In 2021, she co-writes Good in Bed for Dua Lipa’s Future Nostalgia, and later writes for Madison Beer, Mike Shinoda, Alan Walker, Anne-Marie, Little Mix, GAYLE, NGHTMRE and Renee Rapp. That year she also releases the singles Douchebag, Melatonin, Time of my Life and Lunatic, all included on her debut studio album Lady Jesus.

Live profile

UPSAHL tours extensively and builds a live following in the US and overseas. Her debut headline tour sells out venues across the US, Australia, the UK and Europe. She also appears at Lollapalooza, Outside Lands, Reading/Leeds and Rock en Seine, and supports Olivia O'Brien in 2021, Yungblud and FLETCHER in 2022, and Tove Lo in 2023.
