Uniting Nations
Uniting Nations are a United Kingdom electronic dance group active from 2004. The act consists of Paul Keenen and Daz Sampson. It becomes known in Europe in late 2004 and early 2005 through a cover version of Hall & Oates’ “Out of Touch”, a short track with a limited lyric selection that spends a long time in the UK charts and peaks at number 7.
Singles and album
The group’s follow-up single, “You and Me”, is the first release written by Keenen and Sampson themselves. It reaches number 15 in the UK Singles Chart. The track is linked to Craig Powell, who is hired as the group’s frontman, although the album vocals are mainly recorded by Jinian Wilde, including those on the first two singles. Powell leaves the group in March 2006 to focus on a solo career.
The third single from the album, “Ai No Corrida”, features Charlie, also known as Lisa West from Grange Hill and from Eric Prydz’s “Call On Me”. It reaches number 18 in the UK. Uniting Nations’ debut album, One World, appears in 2005 and contains 12 tracks, videos for “Out of Touch” and “You & Me”, plus acapellas by Jinian Wilde and sample material for remixers.
