Uneven Structure
Uneven Structure is a metal group formed in Metz and Montpellier in 2008. It plays progressive metal and djent, with ambient elements and polyrhythmic structures. The band is active and its lineup includes Arnaud Verrier, Jérôme Colombelli, Benoît Friedrich, Igor Omodei, Aurélien Pereira, Matthieu Romarin, Christian Schreil and Jean Ferry.
Style and influences
The group’s music combines muted guitar tones and complex rhythms associated with Meshuggah with ambient textures and atmospheric passages. Its sound is also linked to progressive metal and, in some tracks, djent. The project grows out of the worC and Eggeh projects, and it also follows the split of Longchat, involving Igor Omodei and Benoit Friedrich.
Releases
The first release, the EP 8, is available as a free download on the band’s official website. The first full-length album, Februus, appears as a ten-track release with three additional ambient pieces on a second disc. The album brings together Meshuggah-style rhythms, the atmospherics of Jesu and ambient undertones associated with Rosetta, and its tracks flow into one another as a continuous whole.
Line-up and roles
Matthieu Romarin handles vocals, Jean Ferry plays drums, Benoit Friedrich plays bass, Jérôme Colombelli plays guitars, Aurélien Perreira plays guitars and ambiences, and Igor Omodei plays guitars and production.
