Undertone

Undertone is an Australian metal band from Adelaide that forms in 1994 and splits in 1996. It plays hardcore punk and grindcore, and performs in Adelaide with occasional shows in Melbourne.

Line-up

The original line-up consists of singer Mark Groves, drummer Craig Stevenson, guitarist Damien Kalinowski and bassist Matt Smith. A second guitarist, Mark Jennings, later joins the band, and the group performs for a period as a five-piece before Damien Kalinowski leaves and it continues as a four-piece.

Recording

The band records twice. One session takes place at SAE Institute in Adelaide with the five-piece line-up, and another is recorded at the studios of the local university radio station, where the track “New Plague” is produced. Tracks from the SAE session are available online.

Split

Undertone ends in 1996, when the members decide the project has run its course.
