Underground Empire is a three-piece indie rock band from Chicago. The group consists of Soren Ramsey on guitar and vocals, David Bechdolt on bass, and Kevin Dolan on drums.

Background

The band forms in the suburbs of Chicago. Its sound draws on indie rock, shoegaze, and post-rock, with additional elements of blues, funk, and punk reflecting the members’ different musical tastes. The current line-up forms in 2009.

Underground Empire cites a wide range of influences, including Wilco, Cake, Silversun Pickups, Herbie Hancock, Marcus Miller, and The Who. The group releases its self-titled debut album independently in 2013.
