UKF
UKF is a UK electronic music brand and record label founded by Luke Hood and AEI Group. It begins as a YouTube-based platform for promoting bass music, with Hood creating the project in 2009 while studying at Frome Community College and using the name as an abbreviation of United Kingdom and Frome, his hometown.
Online channels and music promotion
The project starts with two original YouTube channels, UKF Drum & Bass and UKF Dubstep, and grows into a wider network of five channels: UKF Music, UKF Dubstep, UKF Drum & Bass, UKF Mixes and UKF Live. UKF focuses on promoting electronic music, especially bass-driven styles, and develops a larger audience through its online presence.
Label, releases and wider activity
UKF also functions as a record label. Beyond its YouTube channels, the brand expands into compilation series, podcasts, live events, merchandise and its own ticketing platform. It also uses live streaming to broadcast events, which take place across Europe and North America.
Recognition
In January 2012, the UK-based platform Your Hidden Potential names Luke Hood one of its top 20 young entrepreneurs to watch. At the 2012 Red Bull Elektropedia Awards in Belgium, UKF receives awards for Best Really Big Party and Visual Iconography for its sell-out shows in Belgium.
Management
Luke Hood remains managing director at UKF in December 2012. He and the brand are also featured in music magazines and entrepreneurial news platforms.
