Tythe
Tythe is the electronic and house project of Julian Peck. It is a pseudonym that gathers together his earlier work across collaborations, remixes and re-edits made under different names.
Debut album
Peck develops the project after working on material in his home studio and testing it in DJ sets at London parties and summer festivals. Tythe’s debut album, And Also With You, comes out through Sunday Best Recordings/[PIAS] in 2013. The album is written, recorded, re-recorded and produced over different periods of Peck’s life, and it is presented as a personal account of his musical development.
Music and collaborators
The record combines dance music, electronica and pop-influenced production. Its tracks include lead single Careless Woman, as well as Run Into The Sun and Set in Drone. The Light includes a vocal contribution from Rachael Dadd, and Summerbelly features Merz. Tythe’s music is described as moving between euphoric dancefloor material, tougher textures and more atmospheric passages.
Style and identity
The project is rooted in Peck’s wider musical background, but Tythe functions as a distinct solo identity. The material on And Also With You is framed as a sequence of vivid scenes and memories, drawing on both real and imagined experiences.
